SCHOOL AGE LEARN TO SWIM 4 YEARS +

1. DEVELOPMENT STAGES

Familiarisation, Confidence, Breath Control, Body Position & Kicking Techniques

These levels have been constructed to develop skills over 6 main areas:

  • Confidence
  • Floating
  • Submersion
  • Propulsion
  • Child Motor Development
  • Water Safety Skills

Shayne Reese Swimming students will be introduced to floating on their front and back, torpedo kicking on their front and back, submerging, breathing control techniques which will further develop their independent swimming skills and confidence.

2. STROKE DEVELOPMENT STAGES

Introduction of Basic Stroke Techniques

Once confidence and self-reliance are achieved in the water, students will be introduced to basic Freestyle and Backstroke.

Shayne Reese Swimming teaches PERFECTION over a short distance.

The STROKE DEVELOPMENT STAGES emphasizes controlled breathing skills, head and body position, stroke coordination, development of strength and basic stroke technique. Students will also be introduced to Breaststroke kick.

The STROKE DEVELOPMENT STAGES are all about Laying the Foundations for Safety and Technique as children Grow and in turn become more capable.
Stroke Drills will ensure students have developed correct streamlined body positions, correct breathing rhythms, increased body strength and coordination in Freestyle and Backstroke, while introducing basic Breaststroke kicking skills.

3. STROKE ADVANCEMENT STAGES

Advanced Stroke Correction and Introduction of Squad & Competition Skills

The comprehensive STROKE ADVANCEMENT STAGES provide a wide range of skills and drills to ensure children are competent in all swimming areas.
The aim of these levels is to continue developing Freestyle, Backstroke and Breaststroke coordination skills and the introduction to full stroke Butterfly.

Independent Advanced Water Safety Skills are demonstrated throughout these stages with the Aim to be Skilled for Life!

Shayne Reese Swimming will also teach swimmers how to increase their speed while maintaining efficient technique with the introduction of Squad and Competition Skills including starts, turns and set routines across all four disciplines – Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke and Butterfly.

4. MINI SQUAD PROGRAM

Competitive Training Techniques and Skills

The Shayne Reese Swimming MINI SQUAD PROGRAM focuses on refining stroke technique whilst improving speed and endurance for Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke and Butterfly. The MINI SQUAD PROGRAM is designed to emphasize competitive elements such as time trials, use of the pace clock, correct race starts, turns and finishes and develop aerobic fitness and stamina. The MINI SQUAD program aims to extend the swimmers ability to be safe in the water for a longer period of time, while also beginning to educate the emerging competitive swimmer in training etiquette, the latest techniques and skills in preparation for squad training.
